Meeting Alain, a 15 year old boy from Jesuit School, improvising.

Generally there is a time conflict - Alain lives in Heliopolis, school is somewhere between Down Town and Heliopolis, hours of rehearsals are not fitting. Wether he really wants to join in is another question.



Starting rehearsals at Goethe Institute. Going back to teenage times: video clip dancing, experience striptease and exercises.
Also discussing: Who has problems acting what.

"When I was 16, I started getting hysterical attacks. I don´t know why, or where they came from. People talked. But they talked before that, too. They didn´t like my fiancé and said that he was bad. Even the ones I liked, talked about me. Two times I went to a psychologist. After that my aunt said, I should read the quran - that it would help more. I didn´t go back to the doctor. The attacks stopped sometime ago. In the dark, I´m still afraid."

WEEK 7 (24.11. - 30.11.2009)

Travelling to the village Elkerdany again. Planned: Read/reenact all scenes with teenagers and adults from the village. At the same time it´s Eid, everybody is busy with prepartions. Seham, Maisa, Amal and Basma are meeting their fiancés. Collision of time.
Yet: two scenes. Mixture of curiousity and confusion.

"I would call my kids Malak and Muhannad." (Maisa, 15) Muhannad is the male protagonist of the turkish TV soap "Noor".
"Yes, they will go to school. But housework comes first." (Seham, 16)
"Do you think I´ll spend honeymoon in Sharm El Sheikh? I´ll be tide down at home." (Amal, 18)
"I know my part. It´s not a real role, is it?" (Amal, 18)

El Hadaba el Wosta: 4 hours, 7 pizzas, 12 boys and girls, all scenes of Wedekind. For the first time a possiblity to have scenes with boys and girls. Warming up is already a challenge. Deciding against mixed groups. Reading and preparing the text has in consequence: Flirting with between different groups. Rejecting a scene because of uncomfortable feelings. Recreating monologue of Hänschen Rilow between a fulla colorbook scribble, hysterical laughter and playing for keeps.
