WEEK 4 (03.11. - 09.11.2009)

Meeting N. who works for Mokattam based NGO Alwan wa Awtar (http://www.alwan-awtar.org/). NGO is enforcing sexual education programms for the staff and teenagers alike, the booklet being used is commissioned by the Secretariat for Catholic Schools.

"There were these secret meetings in the library. The people working there did not know how to react or how to handle the situation. On the other hand, teenagers came up to them and ask about problems they had. And they did not know how to answer appropriately."

"There used to be a copy of the Guiness Book of World Records. It was frequently borrowed - maybe because of the depiction of the world´s biggest breasts. It got removed from the library."

Ongoing attempt to coordinate a workshop at the European School in Cairo. Seems difficult, not only due to lack of time swine flu causes.
"Even open minded teachers see it as a very sensitive issue that needs a lot of preparation before."

Ongoing attempt to contact an expert of recent youth studies in Upper and Lower Egypt: Prof. Farag Elkamel.
