WEEK 1 (13.10. - 19.10.2010)

Beginning of research.
Trying to arrange workshops at different schools:
Deutsche Schule der Borromäerinnen Cairo, DSB Alex, Deutsche Evangelische Oberschule. Initial thought: international schools may be easier to convince. First reactions when mentioning the play: "difficult, potentially scandalous". Due to swine flu and the material deficits, the max. time for a workshop is limited to 2h.

First trip to Ezbet Elkerdany. Interviews with Bassma (18), Mostafa (15), Mey (14), Seham (16), Amal (18), Maisa (15). All but Mey and Mostafa are engaged, marriage is planed, yet it´s a question of financing it. One fiancé lives in Jordan, photoshop polished pictures and phonecalls between 5-30 minutes for 2,5 years. School is too far to reach after 8th grade, the way too dangerous or fiancé doesn´t want one to go.
